Community Themes and Strengths Survey

Highland County residents, we need your input for our Community Themes and Strengths Survey! Is our community a safe place to live? Are there enough economic opportunities? What factors do you use to measure your quality of life in Highland County? If you can take 10 minutes to provide some feedback on life in Highland County, we would appreciate it! This is a small portion of our Community Health Assessment project, so expect more surveys like this in the future. Thanks Highland County!

Update – Closing of Emergency Overnight Shelter and Warming Centers

Things have improved across Highland County, with approximately 1,000 homes remaining without power. Due to the improvement in the number of households impacted and the reduced need for warming center and shelter support, we are closing all warming centers and overnight shelter today, February 5th, at 3PM.

We want to thank the American Red Cross, the Highland County North Joint Fire District, the Greenfield Exempted Village School District, and Hillsboro City School District for helping with shelters and warming centers.

Check on the Highland County Health Department Facebook page and at highlandcoutyhealth.org for updates on this information.

Power may not be fully restored to some homes for approximately 48 hours.  There are about 3,000 homes without power currently in Highland County.  With the drop in temperature expected overnight, several shelters and warming locations are being established for those who may need them.

Pets are not permitted in any of the listed locations.  Official, certified service animals are allowed into these locations.

With general questions about overnight and warming shelters, contact the Highland County EMA at 937-403-0133.  No appointments are needed to go to a warming shelter or overnight shelter, walk-ins are welcome.
