Lead/Hemoglobin testing is a procedure that involves a small fingerstick to collect drops of blood on filter paper. This test helps screen for anemia (low iron) and lead exposure in young children.
Our office offers this test; however, we are unable to bill insurance. The patient’s Social Security number is required for the consent form.
*If the lead result is high, it may need to be repeated and require additional information about how to remove lead exposures at home.
*If the hemoglobin level is low, it may indicate iron deficiency or another medical condition and need additional testing.
