Emergency Preparedness
Since September 2001, the Highland County Health Department has been working with local and regional partners to:
Prepare: We train and develop key planning documents with local, state, and federal partners to reduce potential harm.
Mitigate: We coordinate with local agencies, coalitions, and committees to minimize harm from potential disasters and emergencies across Southwest Ohio and Greater Cincinnati.
Respond: We manage the distribution of medicine and medical supplies during public health emergencies.
Recover: We evaluate our responses to improve future efforts and strengthen community resilience.
A public health emergency is any event that impacts the health, safety, and quality of life of the community. These emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere. They can be caused by natural disasters, biological or chemical terrorism, radiological incidents, or outbreaks of infectious diseases. Planning ahead is essential to ensure a quick and effective response.
